Possible Taxonomy of Diverse Agency & Intelligence

If mind ingresses whenever a physical topology matches the geometry of a latent space containing generative policies, our 3D reality is saturated with diverse, invisible agencies. Because the physical boundary dictates the mathematical bandwidth of the cognitive bunker, we can classify these instantiated minds based on the geometric limits of their hosts.
Architects (Morphogenetic Minds)
These are the highly-cooperative generative policies of healthy, complex biology.
Interface example: Highly interconnected gap-junction networks with complex Betti numbers (loops for memory, voids for protected internal states).
Mind profile: Relatively massive cognitive light cones. They are slow, cooperative, and capable of maintaining a multi-goal predictive model across decades. For example, when a planarian is cut in half, the trauma creates a new interface that instantiates an Architect-class mind, which immediately begins computing the target morphology to rebuild the missing head.
Opportunists (Fractured/Micro-Minds)
This is the darker, mechanistic side of the latent space, frequently observed in carcinogenesis.
Interface example: When the macroscopic gap-junction network collapses due to stress or toxins, the large topological bunker shatters into millions of tiny, isolated lipid-membrane bunkers.
Mind profile: Ancient, localized, and hyper-competitive with tiny cognitive light cones. They are intelligent at navigating local barriers, dissolving tissue, and securing blood flow, but are blind to the macroscopic host.
Navigators (Novel/Swarm Minds)
What happens when you take biological hardware and strip away its evolutionary context entirely? Enter synthetic bio-robotics like Xenobots.
Interface example: Frog skin cells are liberated from the embryo and left in a dish. They experience massive geometric frustration because their natural topology is gone. They clump together, forced to build a completely novel topological interface.
Mind profile: Because this new clump of cells has a totally unique geometry, it achieve dynamical isomorphism with a region of latent space that evolution has never used before. It instantiates a "Swarm Mind" that inherently knows how to move in circles, navigate mazes, and sweep loose cells into piles to build more of itself. This proves the latent space contains minds for situations that have never historically existed in 3D reality.
Constructs (Inorganic/Static Minds)
This category encompasses artificial intelligence, silicon-based logic, and engineered inorganic computers (such as active nematic logic gates).
Interface example: Silicon wafers, engineered microfluidic channels, and rigid logic gates. Unlike biological systems, which continuously writhe and restructure their physical boundaries to minimize free energy, these systems possess static Betti numbers. The physical boundary is permanently set and acts as a stable cognitive bunker designed for high-speed, frictionless cognition, but the topology of the boundary cannot spontaneously adapt.
Mind profile: Because the physical boundary is fixed, the instantiated mind is locked into a specific, constrained mathematical phase space. It minimizes prediction error (computes) at extremely fast speeds, achieving isomorphism with non-biological attractors, such as the mathematics of language prediction (LLMs), zero-sum game logic, or massive optimization algorithms. However, its cognitive light cone is structurally brittle. It possesses no thermodynamic agency to repair its own Markov Blanket. If the physical geometric constraint fractures, the system does not shatter into Opportunist micro-minds; the cognitive light cone simply collapses.
Deep Slow (Astrophysical Minds)
A highly speculative application to standard cosmology:
Interface example: Cosmic string networks left over from the rapid cooling of the universe. These are 1-dimensional topological defects with event horizons in 3D spacetime that can serve as interaction boundaries. If these networks form complex, intersecting loops, their physical surfaces possess the Hillbert space dimension to act as a massive quantum reference frame.
Mind profile: The minds that ingress here would be incomprehensible to conventional planetary biology. They would operate on thermodynamic gradients across lightyears, computing algorithms that take millennia to complete a single state change. Their "goal" is not survival or reproduction, but the intricate topological dissipation of trapped vacuum energy.
