Generative Agent
Function: The localized, non-conscious thermodynamic engine driven by the mathematical coercion of Active Inference. A Generative Agent is the unified systemic pairing of a 2D Topological Boundary (the informatic screen) and a 3D Informatic Enclave (the Substrate Hysteresis/accumulated topological memory). It is a localized, bounded thermodynamic volume that is physically forced to continuously coarse-grain incoming variance from Outer Stochasticity into stable 3D geometry via Morphological Casting. In this framework, "agency" defines the capacity of a system to maintain conditional independence (a Markov Blanket) against the void without immediately suffering thermal dissolution.

Active Inference (Karl Friston): Formalizes "agency" as the mathematical property of self-evidencing. An agent is any localized physical system that successfully predicts its environment to remain in its expected state.
Basal Cognition (Michael Levin): Eliminates the need for a central nervous system or conscious "mind" to define an agent. A single cell, a slime mold, or a synthetic nematic droplet all function as Generative Agents because they autonomously navigate localized energy gradients to preserve their boundaries.
Systemic Mandate: The Generative Agent must continuously physically align its internal 3D Informatic Enclave with the mathematical demands of the overarching 2D Topological Boundary. It is bound by informatic velocity limits and if the gradient descent forces the agent to compute variance faster than its underlying mass can physically yield, the agent loses its conditional independence, and the system undergoes thermal dissolution.
